I bought this flashlight expecting to put it on my keychain and use it very infrequently. I learned how often I would use a flashlight if I had one to use. The perfect size that's small enough that I carry every day, but large enough to be more functional and take AAA batteries.

I don't know how many times I've dropped something under my desk and got on all fours hunting it down. I've found myself using this thing while under desks, in my trunk at night, illuminating hallways at night, and countless other tasks. Once you start carrying it around all the time, you realize how handy it is to have a flashlight with you. This one is no exception to that.

Another cool thing about this flashlight is that it is waterproof. I actually submerged mine under the sink while it was on to see how well it worked. It worked as expected! I am very happy with this product. After using it seemingly nonstop, the battery has held up amazingly well. I also find that for quick lighting, when the light is off, you can press the tip to turn it on (without turning the top).

I would recommend this flashlight to anyone looking for an everyday flashlight that isn't one of the disposable squeeze LED keychains.

I wanted a small, rugged light with good runtime, to pack in my 72 hour emergency kit. I also wanted it to be fairly inexpensive so I wouldn't mind locking it away for emergencies. The key things I wanted in an emergency light were:

- small and light. At about 3 inches long and weighing just 3 ounces, this was perfect for me
- rugged. The aluminum body and cree LED should last longer than I do
- long runtime. Its rated at 20 hours per fresh battery. I ran it for 10 hours straight with no issues
- uses easy to find batteries. Takes any AAA battery. I purchased an 8 pack of lithium AAA bateries for my kit.
- low cost. At $12 I don't mind throwing it in my 72 hour kit (battery out) and never seeing it again.

This is such a nice little light, I just ordered a couple more so my wife and I can carry one on our key chains.

Update 07/11/11
Had a chance to use this little gem last night. We lost power in an early morning storm and it took 28 hours to get it restored. When night fell, I grabbed the one in my 72 hour kit and the one off my key chain and set them on their base at opposite ends of the room. They ran for 5 hours without a flicker and gave us all the light we needed to navigate around the first floor without tripping or stubbing a toe. I even had enough light to read a phone book to find the ComED number so I could get an ETA on the repairs. Now that we have power back, I'll pull the battery from one and toss it back in my bag while the other goes back on my key chain.

I was surprised by how tiny the flashlight is, but LED products are still a bit pricey in general. Ideal for a keychain, lanyard or purse (even a very tiny purse) and just right for a child. Be aware that all you get is a flashlight. If this is a gift, there is just space in the packaging for adding a AAA battery, and I also added a simple lanyard.
